Welcome to The World Is Quiet Here 101

Posted in News & Updates at 12:51 am by j128

Hello again and welcome to The World Is Quiet Here 101.

What is The World Is Quiet Here 101, you might ask? The World Is Quiet Here 101 is what used to be The World Is Quiet Here at With a simple export and import job, I transferred the old blog to its new home here. You can find everything that was ever published before on the old blog, along with a few new features that includes better navigation, RSS subscription with options (see the small dropdown menu appears when you hover over it), page categorization (my best attempt), and every time you refresh the blog page, or click on any post or page, in the sidebar to the right random posts appear. You also may rate any posts or pages on this blog from 1 to 5 stars, noting that you must view the post or page’s permalink first by clicking the post or page title.

A note on the pages “categorization”: hovering over “Start Here” will display this post as a page and the about page in the dropdown menu; “The Silver Screen” has the Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo page and the Comedy TV: Jeeves & Wooster page.

The only thing that I could say I’m not too thrilled about with this theme is the tag cloud. I think the blog would just look tidier without it.

I’ll have some new reviews rolling out soon.

In the meantime, keep in the loop!

Update – Gankutsuou Episodes Reviews

Posted in Gankutsuou, News & Updates at 5:33 pm by j128

Hello! I have written one page about the anime series Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, based on The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, and I have also written two reviews of the first two episodes.

I have seen all of Gankutsuou, except for the fifth volume, and I must say it is a good show and as it continues it becomes more intense and dramatic. Having said that, I will be writing reviews of all the other episodes that I have seen somewhere in the near future. In the meantime, what I have written regarding Gankutsuou will hopefully provide an exciting glimpse into what it is about and will intrigue readers to find out more and watch the show.

The World Is Quiet Here Updates

Posted in News & Updates at 4:00 am by j128

I have been redesigning The World Is Quiet Here and the following topics cover the major renovations that I am making:

  • Categories
  • Images
  • Valid hyperlinks
  • Submitting comments

I completely redid the categories on the World Is Quiet Here and now there are only three major categories, these are: Literature, Sound and Vision, and News & Updates. The first two categories have been broken up into smaller subcategories.

The Literature category contains all the reviews of books and the subcategories are based on genre and topic.

The Sound and Vision category contains reviews of movies, television shows, anime, and music (including music videos).

The News & Updates category is where any posts covering any updates of The World Is Quiet Here – such as this one – will be found.

None of the posts or pages have been deleted.

WordPress has updated its media tool bar and now I can use captions for images on my blog! Soon all the images on The World Is Quiet Here will have captions and all other posts and pages to come that have images will also have captions.

Valid hyperlinks

I frequently check the hyperlinks in any published posts or pages to make sure that they work properly and are still valid, especially the links for online videos such as YouTube as links are subject to change at anytime. If any links are invalid or the media has since been removed from that link, I will delete the link from the post or page.

Submitting comments

I love seeing comments on my blog and a few times there have been comments that are in another language. At this time, I am fluent only in English, so please submit comments in English so that I can post them. Until I become fluent in other languages or enable an online translation feature on my blog, just English please! 🙂

The World Is Quiet Here is constantly growing and will soon be in order again, so stay tuned! 🙂

Switching Gears

Posted in News & Updates at 1:51 am by j128

Hello! The World Is Quiet Here is all about books and movies I’ve read. Well, and maybe some recipes, and, oh, all right; whatever captures my fancy, then!

Where should I start? Let’s just say that you will find all kinds of books and movies and such here. Have a chair and sit down and relax…I read or watch anything that catches my eye and sounds interesting to me. Expect to find many articles posted on a variety of things.

For those of you who have not visited The World Is Quiet Here for a while, I have added some new features. The first one is I’ve catagorized my articles now and instead of having to type in the search box all the time or scrolling down the page to find an article, etc., which I believe, will make things much easier for my readers.

The first category, About The World Is Quiet Here, and where you will find this introductory article, is a substitute for where I would ordinarily place this article in the About. Oddly, the About feature has disappeared from my blog. Switching Gears was my first article written before The Arm of the Starfish by Madeleine L’Engle and I have now updated this introductory article and removed irrelevant details such as an occasional car coming down the tunnel.

The other catagories contain subjects that are detailed in their titles.

Come back again soon and keep on checking, as The World Is Quiet Here will be constantly growing all the time! Stay tuned!
